Frequently Asked Questions on Drainage Repair and Blocked Drains

Can you repair a drain without digging up?

Yes it is possible to fix a drain without excavating the areas around the drain and causing disruption in the property in question. This is known as no-dig drain repairs. The first thing that is done is drain jetting. Here, high pressured water is flushed through the damaged pipe to remove any kind of debris. Next, resin mould is inserted into the pipe, using an inflator to push the resin into the wall to fit the damaged pipe.

How do you unblock a drain without a plumber?

Whether its a blocked kitchen sink, bathroom sink, shower or tub drain, there are chemical cleaners that may be used to clear drains. Unfortunately, most of this drain cleaners are highly corrosive and may go on to damage your pipe. Here are other alternative suggestions:

  • Drain snake: This is otherwise called a plumbing auger or plumber’s snake. This device is used for busting up clogs and clearing drains. Depending on the type, it may have a small sharp end that is sent into the drain. When this hits the obstruction, you can either break clog-free or pull the blockage back out.
  • Home DIY remedy: The most popular is baking soda, vinegar and hot water. The mix of vinegar and baking soda results in a chemical reaction that break down the gunk that causes clogs. Hot water is also added to aid breakdown.

Is Drain or Pipe relining worth it?

Depending on the severity of the damage, pipe relining may be the best form of rain repair you need. It is important to have professional drain repair specialist investigate your drains to recommend the best approach. Unlike traditional drainage repair that requires excavation, pipe relining is a more modern, less invasion, cost-effective as well as offering a long life expectancy of over two decades with proper maintenance. How do I know If My Drain is Collapsed or Need Drainage Repair?

When it comes to collapsed drains, the first sign you may likely notice is the fowl smell coming from your sewage. This may be coming from outside or within your home.
